Darrell Eugene Longfellow (Red)

Darrell Eugene Longfellow was born December 10, 1954, in Akron, Ohio, and passed away on September 21, 2026, at home in Walla Walla at age 71.

You could always count on Eugene: he was a hard worker who went the extra mile to do an excellent job of whatever he did, and he was never too busy to lend a helping hand to someone else. He had a real gift for caring about people.

He also had a wide variety of interests and skills; he could take apart and fix your car engine, then make you an intricately beaded Christmas ornament, build you a wheelchair ramp, cook you a lovely meal, and teach you to fish. He was always interested in a new project.

He is survived by his longtime partner, Nancy Hoeft, whom he met in 1975 when they were both in school, and he knew right away that she was the one for him. He was always there to support her with her ongoing health challenges. He also leaves behind his pet cats, O’Hana and Iris.

He was preceded in death by close family members, Dick and Barbara Daniel, and Ed and Doris Hoeft. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

There is no service planned at this time.
