Daniel Jordan Ryan, 34 years old, of Walla Walla, Washington died September 9, 2024.

Daniel was born April 22, 1990, to parents Dan and Carrie Ryan. He enjoyed a happy childhood in a busy home with seven siblings in Walla Walla, Washington. He moved to Syracuse, Utah at ten years old with his parents and sister, Kacie.

Daniel received the Eagle Scout award, the highest and most coveted award in scouting. He was a trumpet and bass player in junior and senior high school and participated in various jazz ensembles, a swing band, the Davis High marching band, a professional quartet and big band, a professional pit orchestra, and participated in the Utah Ambassadors of Music touring Europe. Daniel received numerous awards and superior ratings for his performances. Playing in a garage band, consisting of high school friends, was a treasured memory. He attended both Davis High School and Clearfield High School and graduated in 2008.

Daniel served his country with Army Bravo Company 2-58 Infantry Regiment, and after becoming disabled, served as a paralegal specialist. He was honorably discharged in 2012. He moved to Walla Walla in 2015 with the love of his life, Emily Bryner, who in October 2016, became his wife. They were together nearly ten years and were best friends.

Daniel was a professional musician, who sang and played electric bass. He was also a multi-instrumentalist who had the gift of playing any instrument he picked up. He especially loved playing music as a member of Shanks Pony, alongside his band family, Jared and Tabitha Pennington, and Emilio Cabrales. It was important to Daniel to bring community together and provide joy to others thru his music. He also loved writing and recording music with his childhood buddy, Gavin Stokes.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Emily Ryan; siblings, Kelly Jensen (Todd), Shana McKenzie (Cliff), Chris Ryan (Randee), Deanna Schnider, Ben Ryan, Molly Johnson (Casey), Kacie Parker (Brad); 16 nieces and nephews; three uncles and an aunt; numerous cousins; and his dogs, Tina and Link.

Daniel was preceded in death by his grandparents, his Uncle Pat, and two siblings, Jeff Ryan and Sean Ryan.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 27, 2024, 1:00 PM, at the Chapel of Herring Funeral Home. A full military service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery following the Celebration of Life.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made thru Herring Funeral Home to offset the family’s funeral expenses.

Danny will be greatly missed.
