Charles (Bob) Robert Holtzinger, Jr. passed away in the early morning of March 22, in the family home. Bob was born on June 16, 1938, to Charles (Bill) Robert Holtzinger and Millicent (Robinson) Holtzinger, in Yakima. Bob was a 1956 graduate of Yakima High School and continued his education earning a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Puget Sound. He began working in the family orchard growing apples and pears.
In the spring of 1967, he married Mary Ann Roy in Seattle. They had one child, Charles (Rob) the 3rd. Bob was a respected farmer, known for being innovative in his industry. He was a loving father, husband and son. An active member, volunteer, and supporter of Holy Family Parish in Yakima, St. John the Baptist in Cle Elum, Immaculate Conception in Roslyn, later in life becoming a member of Assumption Parish in Walla Walla. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. A generous supporter of St. Paul’s Grade School and Carroll High School in Yakima, and the Walla Walla Catholic Schools. 1999 Bob moved to Walla Walla with his son and daughter-in-law Kristine (Paulsen), where he had the privilege of watching his five grand-kids grow up. He loved to teach them geography, economics, and keeping them up to date on politics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law and his grandchildren: Mary Ann, Bobby (the 4th), William (Billy), and Teresa Kay.
We are grateful for the long term care by Dr. Gardner and his staff. We would like to thank the emergency responders and Fr. Kuttner for their care.
The Rosary will be held at 10:15 a.m. at the Assumption Parish on Wednesday, March 29. Followed by the Funeral Mass at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be held in Yakima, Wednesday, April 5 at 10 a.m. at Tahoma Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Walla Walla Catholic Schools or the Assumption of the B.V.M. Church of Walla Walla.
