In 1971 they moved to Hermiston, Oregon. Sandra ret
urned to teaching and Charles took a position at Franklin Substation. During this time he was a big supporter of Pathfinders. He spent his spare time with kids modeling how to live a Christ centered life.
Charles retired from BPA after thirty-eight years in 2002. They enjoyed retirement traveling to see family and friends and going on mission trips and yearly family camping trips on the Lochsa River. They loved spoiling their grandchildren, Elsa, Adam, and Natalie. After 45 years of marriage, Sandra passed away February 28, 2011.
In October of 2011, Charles met Joyce Lowry and they were married one year later on October 7, 2012. They loved to travel to visit family and friends and never missed the annual camp meeting. Devoted to the Lord, church, and his faith, Charles visited the sick and gave encouragement to those in need. He volunteered to assist with service projects at the church. He especially enjoyed helping with the Church Christmas float. Being part of the Walla Walla Valley Men’s chorus gave him pleasure.
