Charles Daniel Brinson

October 12, 1940 — January 9, 2018

Walla Walla

Charles Daniel Brinson, 77 was born on October 12, 1940 to Harvey Boyd Brinson and Dortha Viola (Vi) Wheeler in Bend, Oregon to a pioneer family. Charles had three brothers, Harvey (Jack), Richard and Gary. He attended local schools and graduated from Laurelwood Academy in 1960.

He married Lois Mahurin, an elementary school teacher, on September 2, 1962. In 1964 he started working for Bonneville Power Administration. Lois passed away on Dec.22, 1964.

In 1965 Charles met Sandra Wilson, a school teacher from Portland, Oregon. They were married on August 1, 1965. They had two sons, Garth born August 9, 1966 and Darren born August 4, 1969. Charles’ nickname for his little family was “The Bonneville Gypsies” because they moved across the Pacific Northwest building power lines 14 times during the first year of marriage.

In 1971 they moved to Hermiston, Oregon. Sandra ret
urned to teaching and Charles took a position at Franklin Substation. During this time he was a big supporter of Pathfinders. He spent his spare time with kids modeling how to live a Christ centered life.

Charles retired from BPA after thirty-eight years in 2002. They enjoyed retirement traveling to see family and friends and going on mission trips and yearly family camping trips on the Lochsa River. They loved spoiling their grandchildren, Elsa, Adam, and Natalie. After 45 years of marriage, Sandra passed away February 28, 2011.

In October of 2011, Charles met Joyce Lowry and they were married one year later on October 7, 2012. They loved to travel to visit family and friends and never missed the annual camp meeting. Spending time with their children and grandchildren gave them great joy. Together they could grow the most amazing vegetable garden in town.

Devoted to the Lord, church, and his faith, Charles visited the sick and gave encouragement to those in need. He volunteered to assist with service projects at the church. He especially enjoyed helping with the Church Christmas float. Being part of the Walla Walla Valley Men’s chorus gave him pleasure.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Gary and Richard, first wife Lois, and second wife Sandra.
He is survived by his loving wife Joyce of College Place. Sons Garth (Jay), Darren (Julie), Ron (Belinda), Kim (Mike), Kathy, Christy (Justin) Evelyn (Lou), sixteen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
