Chad Timothy Schoesler 66, of Walla Walla, WA died September 1st, 2017 at his home. Chad was born December 10th, 1950, in Walla Walla to Walter and Teresa Schoesler.

Chad attended St. Patrick’s Grade School, and then left home at the young age of 14 for Mater Cleri Seminary in Colbert, WA. He graduated from there in 1969. He continued his education at Bishop White Seminary at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA until 1973.

He worked at a neighborhood grocery store close to campus, that he later became part owner of, and named it “Chad’s Foods.” Chad eventually moved back to his home town of Walla Walla, and started his career in retail sales. He worked for Fred Meyer Apparel, that became The Emporium, and again to Gottschalks. He held various
managerial positions at all the stores he worked for. His last employment was at Harry Ritchie Jewelers. Having no children of his own he always loved the time spent with his niece Amy, and his nephews Brady, and Turner.

Chad was an avid sports fan, and baseball card collector. He was the most devoted Gonzaga basketball fan you would ever meet, and followed the Utah Jazz as long as John Stockton was on the court. Whether he liked it or not, his brother-in law Larry made sure he became a Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Chad’s sincere love of baseball became evident when his nephew Turner started playing the game. If he couldn’t attend any of his games, he would watch faithfully on Game Changer so he could discuss stats with his nephew. Of course Chad had to brag about all of the different pitches he used to
throw throughout his baseball days! All of us that knew Chad, could attest to his recall of players and their stats!

Chad was quite a rock hound at one time, and was able to recruit his young nephew Brady into the hobby. They would hunt for rocks, tumble and polish them. Thus he became a member of the Gem and Mineral Society.

In earlier years, Chad loved to hike, backpack, and mountain climb.

A note from a dear friend Jim McNally about their Europe trip-

Our Europe trip was during the summer of 1973. Nearly two months of travel from London, a trip of a lifetime. Mike and Dan Malone, Mike Trudeau and I were his traveling brothers. We stayed at campgrounds throughout the entire trip unless we couldn’t fine one, in which case we hid in the forest, or some farmer’s barn as we did in Switzerland.

A note from his cousin Van Schoessler about climbing Mt Rainier-

Chad climbed Mt. Rainer with myself, Kari, one of the girls, and Jim in July of 2002. He was really in his element, and soaked up every moment. We got to spend time with some of the world’s best mountain climbers, and traded stories with them. I’ll never
forget the grin on Chad’s face when we sat down in the bar after the climb to chat with the celebrity climbers. It doesn’t really matter how far Chad made it on the climb – as far as I’m concerned he summit-ed just by being there! Jim recalled that he and Chad
had spotted a white fox on this trip later in the day.

Chad was a man that was full of information, a true history nut, studied too much Latin, was an amazing mathematician, we all loved his “terms of endearment”, and was a stranger to no one. He also was a jack of all trades, but never really mastered electricity! When Chad needed an extra hand with his projects from building a patio, to remodeling his bathroom, his nephew Brady was always willing to help. In the past year Chad decided that he would like to take up an old hobby of photography again so he could take action shots of Turner’s baseball games, and nature photos. Another desire he had was to seek out special pieces of wood, and make frames to sell.

A special thank you to Jim McNally for being such a special friend to Chad, and Van for being more of a brother than his cousin. Your kindness and generosity shown to Chad throughout the years will never be forgotten. Also, a special thank you to Jayne
for sharing your love of photography with Chad. He truly enjoyed your friendship, and talking shop with you.

Chad is survived by his sister Karen Loiseau, Anna Edwards (Larry), niece Amy Loiseau, nephews Brady and Turner Edwards all of Walla Walla, and numerous cousins, and lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his father Walter Schoesler, mother Teresa Freeman, step mother Marge Schoesler, and brother in law Lyn Loiseau.

A celebration of Chad’s life will be held in the near future. Announcement to follow. Relatives and friends are invited to sign the online guest book at www.herringgroseclose.net.
