He began with masonry in Hillyard, Wash., and became a life member in both Walla Walla Masonic lodges, serving as a past master. He was a noble of El Katif Shrine and Blue Mountain Shrine Club, serving as president of the latter. He supported and was coordinator for Masonic-sponsored Little League teams and chaired clinics for screening children for admittance to Shrine Hospital.
He and Kay enjoyed traveling in their camper with the Idle Roamers and later with tour agencies through the Walla Walla travel club to Washington, D.C., etc. They also traveled on the Union Pacific Railroad train to annual conventions and paratroop conventions. He enjoyed playing golf with friends and daughter Pamela, fishing, sports viewing, wood working, the opera, reading and spending time with his family until his health declined. He had a great memory for good jokes, which were enjoyed by friends.
