Carrie Marie Davis

Carrie Marie Davis passed away March 17, 2013 at her home. She was born April 13, 1915, one of nine children to Anthony Long & Bridget (Mecca) Long.

Carrie graduated from North Collins High School in 1934 and went to work for a toy factory for several years. They made large shipments for toys to send to the 1939 New York World’s Fair. When the United States entered WWI, Carrie moved to Buffalo, N.Y. and worked 2 years on a drill press at the Curtis Wright Aeroplane factory.

In 1943, Carrie & her brother moved to Seattle where she met her husband-to-be, Roger L. Davis. After a 6 week whirlwind courtship, they married December 30, 1944.

They moved to Walla Walla then back to North Collins for a few years before returning to Walla Walla. Roger & Carrie lived in and managed apartment houses for a while before buying their first home. Then Carrie worked 10 years the Washington Odd Fellows Home before retiring in 1970.

Carrie loved being a mother to their 2 sons. She maintained a beautiful yard & flower beds well into her 80s. Roses were her favorite flower. She prepared many specialty Italian dishes and enjoyed hosting family gatherings.

Carrie precedes her husband of 68 years in death. She is survived by her 2 sons, Ray (Connie) Davis of Walla Walla and Roger (Donna) Davis of Kalispell, MT; 6 grandchildren, Mark Davis of Tacoma, WA, Kelli Davis of Spanaway, WA, Brian Davis of Yakima, WA, Suzanne Davis of Sandpoint, ID, Michael Davis & Diane Coy of Pompey Pillar, MT; 9 great grandchildren and 1 sister, Agnes Dills of North Collins, NY.

There will be a private family memorial service held at a later date.
