Carolyn M. Wilson

Carolyn M. (Alcorn) Wilson, 87, died Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at College Place, WA under the care of Walla Walla Community Hospice after a recent hospitalization.

She was born December 9, 1932 in Arpin, WI the last of six children, to the late Clarence E. and Nancy R. (Freestone) Alcorn.  Her family moved to Berrien Springs, MI and then Washington state where she graduated from Auburn Adventist Academy in Auburn, WA in 1950.  She then moved with her parents to Lincoln, NE where on October 18, 1953 she married Herschel D. Wilson, whom she had gotten to know years before while living in Michigan.

Carolyn and Herschel moved to Colorado, then on to Wisconsin and Michigan where Carolyn finished her college degree at Andrews University.  Carolyn and Herschel taught in Michigan before moving their family to Miami and then to Massachusetts, teaching Business Administration classes at Greater Miami Academy and Pioneer Valley Academy.

In the late 70s, the family moved to Houston, TX where Carolyn worked for several oil processing companies.  After retiring, Carolyn and Herschel moved to Staunton, VA to be closer to their children and grandchildren.  After Herschel died in 2016, Carolyn moved to Gresham, OR where she lived close to her sister, Nancy Wilson.  Very recently, Carolyn moved to College Place, WA into an assisted living apartment to be closer to her daughter, Patti.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Patti Wilson-Short of Walla Walla, WA, Ted (Sharon) Wilson of Topsfield, MA, and Linda (Jim) Minty of New Market, VA; her grandchildren, Erik (Alexandra) Short and Austin (Kindal) Storm, Patti's children; Alexandra Wilson and Christopher Wilson, Ted's children; and Joshua (Kelly) Minty, Caleb (Emily) Minty, and Kendra (Jake) FitzGerald, Linda's children; siblings, Nancy Wilson and Bill (Corene) Alcorn; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Vivian Johnson, Betty Walterhouse and Lucille Pascoe.

Carolyn was a strong supporter of Adventist education and ministries.  Contributions may be made in her honor to one of the following schools that her children and grandchildren are working at or another Adventist school or ministry of your choice:
