Carol L Wilson, 90, passed March 11, 2019 at Washington Odd Fellows Home.
Born December 23, 1928 to parents Clarence and Sadie Wilson in Sioux Falls SD. He grew up in Onawa Iowa; attended college at Morningside in Sioux City Iowa. Carol served in the Army as a Radio Operator during the Korean War. Shortly after serving he married Joanne Holdcroft and had 4 sons and a daughter. They later divorced.
He began his employment with the US Corp of Engineers in the mid-west then transferred to Walla Walla, working in the Survey department, later promoted to the Real Estate division as a Cartographic Technician. There is where he met his wife Esther Dewayne and her son Kirby. Carol and Esther retired on the same date in 1986. Carol and Esther spent 41 wonderful years together. They enjoyed their time traveling the USA, Canada and Mexico. They also enjoyed local trips to the Wildhorse. They were both members of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Carol was a great storyteller, a man of humor. He loved to draw and paint. Other hobbies included golf and bowling.
He is survived by his wife Esther, sons Steven, Daryl, Kevin, Mitchell and daughter Cheryl Shaffer, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, cousins Elsie Kalskett, Arlene Moltsau and stepson Kirby Dewayne.
This amazing man will be greatly missed by all.
Viewing and visitation will be held at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home on March 27, 2019 from 4pm to 7pm. Funeral Services to be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on March 28, 2019 at 11:00am
