Carlene Ann Studley

Carlene Winkle Studley was born on May 8, 1932 to Carl & Anna Winkle. She attended St. Patrick School in Walla Walla. She moved to Seattle, Washington & attended school there. Returning to Walla Walla, she completed grade school at Washington School & graduated from Walla Walla High School.

She married Earl Richardson & later divorced. From that marriage, she had 2 sons, Terry & Tom. She later married Cecil Hanson on December 26, 1959. Carlene & Cecil liked traveling & gardening. She loved her flower garden & also doing hand work. She won many Blue Ribbons & special awards at the Southeastern Washington Fair.

Carlene worked in various retail stores & also Walla Walla Cannery.

Her husband Cecil died June 7, 1991. Carlene was active in Central Christian Church, the Organic Garden Club & President 2 years, Sweet Adelines Chorus & held several committee chairman duties along with the Secretary position of the Chorus.

Preceding her in death are her parents; former husbands; and sister, Bettie Winkle. She is survived by 2 sons, Terry Richardson & Tom Richardson; grandson, Jason Richardson & granddaughter, Kristi Bump; aunt, Dorothy Chipman; longtime faithful friend, Jim Bullock and numerous cousins.

Viewing & visitation will be held at the Herring Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Bethel Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice through the funeral home.
