After a brief but intense struggle with brain cancer, Bryan William Lubbers passed away peacefully at his home in Walla Walla, Washington on February 13, 2023, at the age of 59, surrounded by friends and family.
Bryan was born to Gilbert and Dorothy Lubbers on November 13, 1963, in Burlington, Vermont. He graduated from Mead High School in Spokane, Washington in 1982 and from WSU in mathematics in the late 80s. Bryan married his first wife, Sara, in 1989. Together they had one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Lubbers. While the marriage ended, the mutual love for Mary kept them on the same team. Bryan worked for Whitman College for over 25 years in their tech services department. He later married his second wife, Rebecca Lubbers, in 2015. Bryan was an avid skier, cyclist, sailor, reader, traveler, singer, cook, tree-lover, infrastructure nerd, sci-fi enthusiast, community builder, beer and whisky aficionado, trusted friend, beloved colleague, daddy extraordinaire, and loving husband.
He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his daughter, Mary, and wife, Becci.
Those who knew and loved Bryan will remember any number of his special sayings like "do the next right thing" and "never argue with success."
The family will announce a celebration of life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Scribner Fund for Walla Walla Trees through the Blue Mountain Community Foundation or a similar cause in your own community.
