Bruce Leland Brewer

Bruce Leland Brewer, 81, passed away at his home in Walla Walla on October 10, 2024.

Bruce was raised in Carbonado, Washington, a small town in the Mount Rainier foothills. He attended White River High School in Buckley, Washington, graduating in 1961. Bruce attended Whitman College and graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor’s degree in history.

While at Whitman, Bruce met Beulah Abenroth; they were married on October 26, 1963. They went on to have three sons, and their staunch commitment to their children was paramount in their life together.

Bruce served in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967. Subsequently he worked as a mortgage lender in various capacities nearly all his working life, from 1968 to 2011. Bruce enjoyed his work, was never bored, and always eager to accomplish what needed to be done. He was privileged to have rewarding work that he enjoyed, in a business that was multifaceted.

Bruce was preceded in death by his older brother, Don and his granddaughter, Audrey Brewer. He is survived by his wife, Beulah, at the family home in Walla Walla; three sons, Bert Brewer of Pasco, John Brewer of Kennewick, and Kent Brewer, at the family home; a sister, Joanne Brewer, of Edgewood WA; two grandchildren and three great­grandchildren. His family will remember him as a kind man of integrity, devoted to his family and his faith, who always wanted to do what was right.

Viewing and Visitation will be Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, at Herring Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 1:30 PM, at the Chapel of the Herring Funeral Home, 315 W Alder St, Walla Walla. Concluding services and interment at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens, College Place, Washington.
