Brice Neil Jones

September 8, 1959 — September 10, 2012

Brice N. Jones passed September 10, 2012 in Walla Walla after a brief bout with cancer. Brice was born on September 9, 1959 in Dayton, Washington to Richard R. Miller and Iola S. Peterson. He lived in and attended school in Waitsburg from 1970 to 1977 and graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1978. Brice worked for the District 4 Fire Department while attending Walla Walla Community College. In 1981, he transferred to Eastern Washington University where he studied Computer Science.

Brice married his soul mate, Sarah Teresa Clevenger, on August 18, 1984 in Cheney, Washington. Afterward, they moved to California where Brice was employed by RAND as a computer programmer. They eventually set their sights back on the Pacific Northwest and moved to Walla Walla in 1991.

Brice opened North Star Comics in September 1993 to fill the comic and gaming niche that he saw in our community. The store sponsored a variety of gaming tournaments that gave local kids a place to play. He was also a supporter of Free Comic Book Day and encouraged reading among our youth. Brice was a kid at heart who enjoyed the camaraderie of his customers and friends.

Even though Brice was confined to a wheelchair, he didn't define himself as handicapped. He was a husband, a brother, a son, a friend, an adventurer, an optimist, a freethinker, a lover of good food and a gamer.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah; brothers, Walter Miller, Keith Miller, and Kenneth Miller; step-brothers, Richard Miller, Jr., George Lawless, Sr., and Charles Lawless; step-sisters, Bertha de la Rosa, Gloria Gomez, Vickie Rovles, and Tina Collins along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Viewing & visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla. The Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 22, 2012 with Rev. Steve Morris officiating.
