Bill Thrasher passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017, at the Washington Odd Fellows Home in Walla Walla, at the age of 89. Bill was born December 24, 1928, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, to Seaborn and Goldie Thrasher. Upon graduation from Sallisaw High School in 1946 Bill joined the Navy to see the world and subsequently was stationed at the Naval Air Base in Port Orchard, Washington.
Bill spent his last year in the Navy hitchhiking back and forth from the Air Base and Grandview, Washington, where he had met his, soon-to-be wife, of 68 years, Christine Dillow. They were married on Feb. 20, 1949, and had two sons, Michael and Kenneth.
Bill spent the earlier years of marriage building remodeling houses with his father-in-law until 1958 when the family moved to Walla Walla and he founded the Walla Walla TV Clinic. Bill later worked for the group W cable company, and Reif Manufacturing. After retirement, Bill went back to carpentry which was always his main calling. His skills in carpentry were used for serving his Lord by traveling the world on numerous mission outreach endeavors performing construction on hospitals, schools, and churches in Africa, Taiwan, Mexico and many other locations, along with construction of many churches within the Northwest. In his later years, Bill continued his service by performing as an all-around handyman providing repair and maintenance work for many of the senior citizens of Walla Walla.
Bill is survived by his wife, Christine; his oldest son, Mike and wife Bev; his youngest son, Ken and wife Carol; along with five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at 10 a.m., at the Blue Mountain Community Church, 928 Sturm Ave., Walla Walla.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Mission Outreach at the Blue Mountain Community Church, through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home 315 W Alder Walla Walla, WA.
