Beverly Jean Rothwell

Beverly Jean Rothwell was born in Bandon, Oregon on February 20, 1931. Her parents, Walter E. & Etta M. Yule, along with 3 brothers, welcomed her into the family. Two more brothers soon arrived. Bev learned quickly the truth of the adage that “boys will be boys.”

The family moved to Selah, Washington where Bev met Kenneth B. Rothwell. A World War II vet, Ken was attending Perry Technical Institute on the G.I. Bill. Ken & Bev married in Yakima, Washington on September 30, 1949.

Their oldest daughter, Patricia, was born in Yakima on August 12, 1950. Three years later, the family moved to Aberdeen, Washington where their youngest daughter, Kathleen, was born on December 4, 1953. A move to Bremerton, Washington was followed in 3 years by a moved to Walla Walla in 1959 where Ken started work for Sears which is where he stayed until his retirement in 2002. In 2010, Ken & Bev moved from their home of 42 years to Park Plaza Assisted Living where they made many new & dear friends. Bev passed away there on August 23, 2014.

Bev enjoyed being a homemaker & took great delight in her flower garden. Her special joy was her family, particularly her grandchildren. Bev was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she & Ken served in many capacities. She was also proud of her membership in Cherokee Nation West. She loved to travel especially to casinos. She won her first Jackpot on Mother’s Day at the Coeur d’Alene casino in 2014.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents & three brothers, Bill, Bob & Don Yule. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; 2 daughters, Patricia (Ron) McAdams of Walla Walla & Kathleen Holland of Tacoma, WA; 2 grandchildren, Robert Elwell of Tacoma, WA & Becki (Brian) McAdams York of Auburn, WA; 2 brothers, Dale (Betsy) Yule of Tri Cities & Claude Yule of Selah, WA and numerous nieces & nephews.

A Celebration of Life was held August 28, 2014 at Park Plaza. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneer Park Aviary Fund of Walla Walla Community Hospice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
