Betty Lee Laufer

July 15, 1930 — December 21, 2015

Walla Walla

Betty Lee Laufer, 85, passed away peacefully on Dec. 21, 2015, at her home with family by her side.
Betty Lee was born July 15, 1930, to Warren and Lela James in Dayton.
Betty Lee had a wonderful
childhood growing up on the family farm out on the Whetstone. She attended Dayton schools. Betty Lee was truly a “Dayton Girl.”
She eventually moved to
Walla Walla and attended Walla Walla High School, where she met Frank. Their first date was at the Liberty Theatre. They became high school sweethearts and married in 1948; a 62-year marriage by the way.
Betty Lee was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed her home, baking, gardening, reading and getting together monthly with her Lunch Bunch, a really fun group of women who are friends and had graduated from Walla Walla High School.
It would
be remiss not to mention her home’s yard and flower gardens were so lovely they could have been featured in Better Homes and Gardens magazine.
Betty Lee is survived by children, Frankie #1 son Laufer; and daughter, Linda Bayer; granddaughters, Billie Jo Bradford and Julie Garrett; great-grandsons, Pierce, Conor, Emmett; great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Anna; niece and nephews, and other family and friends whom she dearly loved.
Betty Lee was
preceded in death by her parents; brother, Clark; her husband, Frank; and daughter, Susan Laufer Denny.
No services are planned. There will be a celebration of life in the spring months; date to be determined.
If you wish, memorial donations can be made to The Blue Mountain Humane Society or Friends of Pioneer Park Aviary Fund or Walla Walla Community Hospice through Herring Groseclose Funeral Home.
