Betty Golden (Betty Lee Jones), born to Vernon “Buck” and Leila Jones in March of 1930 in Curtis, Nebraska, passed away April 17, 2026.

She was a lifelong resident of the Walla Walla community. Her family moved here from Lewiston, Idaho, when she was seven years old. She was a graduate of Wa-Hi, class of 1948. She went on to Eastern Washington University before marrying William “Bill” Golden in 1952. She was active in her children’s lives and Civic organizations such as Campfire, Assumption Catholic Church, the Salvation Army, both the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association. She was also a former member of the Walla Walla Country Club.

She and her husband, Bill, were avid golfers. They enjoyed traveling, gambling, and visiting with friends and family. After their marriage, she began working at the Corps of Engineers and later for Baker Boyer Bank. She retired from Baker Boyer Bank after working for 25 years. Part of a group of lifelong high school friends known as the “lunch bunch,” they met locally once a month for decades. Following her husband’s death in 2004, she continued to enjoy her retirement. Later, she became engaged to Phil Anderson, also from Walla Walla. For 12 years, they enjoyed outings around town and their friends from the Elks Club.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Golden; fiancée, Phil Anderson; and her brother, Vernon Jones of Tigard, OR. She is survived by her five children: Helen Bixby (Dave) of Spokane, WA, Mary Wilson (Bill) of Chattaroy, WA, Tim Golden (Linda) of Liberty Lake, WA, Judy Dunbar (Phil) of Medical Lake, WA, and Bob Golden (Carol) of Spokane, WA; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services are pending at this time.
