Betty Jean Ferraro

Betty Ferraro, of Walla Walla, passed away March 19, 2026, at Eagle Springs Memory Care at the age of 89.

Betty was born September 26, 1936, in Moyie Springs, Idaho, to George and Hazel Chappell. After attending school in Moyie Springs, she moved to Walla Walla and began working as a beautician at the age of 16. In 1951, she met Joe Ferraro Jr., and in 1953, they were married.

In 1954, she stayed home to start a family. When Betty’s youngest child started Jr. High, she went to work for Jacky’s Flowers in the greenhouse part of the business and later worked in the flower shop as a florist. Betty took pride in designing flower arrangements.

Betty was a woman of many passions, but above all was her love of family. She was married to Joe for 63 years, and they raised four children together. She enjoyed all the family activities, especially the holidays. She was the heart of the family, always preparing meals and serving with a smile. She faithfully supported her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at their sporting events, always rooting them on. She enjoyed going with Joe to the annual Italian Festival in Reno, Nevada. She made this trip yearly to eat, cook, dance, and enjoy the Italian culture with her family. Another of Betty’s interests was baseball; she was an avid Mariners fan, watching every game, win or lose.

Betty is survived by her son Jerry and his wife, Chris; daughter Debbie and her husband, Warren; son Steve and his wife, Laurie; and son Mark and his wife, Sasha; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents, George and Hazel; and her brothers, Jim and Larry.

The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 9:30 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church, followed by Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
