Bernice Foster, 87 of Walla Walla, lost her courageous battle to cancer on September 3rd at the home of her sister, Maxine Narum. Bernice is survived by her two sons, Steve Foster of Bentonville, Arkansas and Ron Foster of Fairbanks, Alaska; her sister, Maxine Narum; 4 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Born to Harry and Ester McWilliams in Canada as an American born abroad, she moved to the United States at a very early age.
Bernice is a 1946 graduate of Walla Walla High school and worked at Gardner’s Department store for 25 years as a bookkeeper. She loved camping, fishing and being a homemaker to her family.
Her husband of 60 years, Kenneth V. Foster, preceded her in death in May of 2010.
A celebration of Bernice’s life, a graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Mountain View Cemetery’s Rock Garden. Pastor Linda Weistaner will officiate. Kenneth Foster’s ashes will also be laid to rest at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home in recognition of their love & support in our Mother’s care.
Bernice’s laughter, smile, and loving ways will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
