Barbara Jean McBain passed away June 28, 2018, with her loving sister by her side.
Barbara was born March 20, 1958, to Gerald and Marjorie McBain in Walla Walla. Barbara grew up in Walla Walla graduating in 1977, after graduation she attended cosmetology school and worked at the Hair Chateau for 10 years0. Barbara had her one and only child Nicole McBain in May of 1986. She was truly an amazing mother. She was not only loving but very patient; she would do anything for her little girl no matter how old she was. After giving birth Barbara worked many different jobs including Shopko jewelry department and The Marcus Whitman Hotel. She also continued her education, working on her bachelor’s degree in social services. Eventually Barbara’s love of helping others led her to become a certified nurse’s assistant, where she found great pride and compassion working at Wheatland Village for the past 12 years.
Barbara enjoyed nature and being outside, beading jewelry and helping others. Barbara especially loved being a grandma to her two grandkids, Anali 12 and Alijah 3, these kids were the love of her life, she loved teaching them how to bake and doing all kinds of crafts with them.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Nicole McBain; grandchildren, Analia and Alijah Avalos-McBain; sister, Sheree Hunter and her daughter Katie McBain, along with her three children; Barbara’s brother and his wife, Robert and Connie McBain; as well as two half siblings, Virgil Head and Virginia Bond; in addition to many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was an amazing woman who never had a bad thing to say about anyone, always looked for the good in people. She loved unconditionally and a person you could always count on. Barbara will be forever loved and missed by all who had a chance to know her.
Viewing and Visitation will be held July 20, 2018, from 11:00a.m.-7:00p.m. at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held July 21, 2018 at 11:00a.m. at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, with a celebration of life gathering following the service at BMCC, 928 Sturm Ave at 2:30 p.m.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Mary Regional Cancer Center through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
