Barbara Jean Locati

February 16, 1938 — March 16, 2013

Barbara J. Locati (Bobbe), 75, passed peacefully at her Walla Walla home on March 16, 2013 surrounded by her family. Bobbe was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in December 2009.

Bobbe was born February 16, 1938 in Santa Barbara, California to Norman Stocking and Stella Dougherty-Stocking. She was raised in Washington State and graduated from Upper Columbia Academy in 1956. After graduation, she married Carl Monroe Nickell and had three daughters. Carl Nickell passed away in 1976. In 1981, she married lifetime Walla Walla resident, Dave Locati, and created a beautiful home for him and his children, Tracy Locati Weatherman and Lisa Locati.

She loved reading, writing, creative cooking, gardening, and landscaping her yard with river rocks. She took pride in renovating and decorating her home and entertaining her family. She touched many with her clever sense of humor and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her husband, Dave Locati, of 31 years; 4 daughters, Lynne Nickell Robinson (George J.) of Troy, Oregon; Carlene Nickell Jay (Michael) of Black Diamond, WA; Traci Nickell Munns of Walla Walla, WA, and Lisa Lynn Locati of Las Vegas, NV; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a baby boy in 1960; her parents; and one sister, Ann Parrish.

The Memorial Funeral will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA, with interment following at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Regional Cancer Center through the funeral home.
