Barbara Ellen Daniel entered God’s rest on November 26, 2016 due to cancer. She was born in Pendleton, OR on September 26, 1944, to Robert “Edwin” and Doris Hoeft. She grew up on the family farm with her four older brothers and two younger sisters.

Barbara attended schools in Pendleton. After graduating in 1962 she attended Eastern Oregon College in LaGrande, OR where she earned a teaching degree. She began teaching first-graders the fall of 1966 at Green Park Elementary in Walla Walla, Washington. After three years she took a years’ leave to get a Masters Degree in Education. She returned and taught for 31 more years.

In 1977 she married Alva Good. Ten years later, after a divorce, she married Richard A. Daniel and they enjoyed 30 wonderful years together.

Barbara was an energetic person who always tried her best at whatever she did. She considered the years of teaching as hard but very rewarding work-a blessing to be able to help young children learn basic academic and social skills. She held summer reading lab for 21 summers to give young readers an extra boost. She was an active member of Central Christian Church, often in teaching and leadership positions. In retirement she was an active volunteer in the community and several organizations. She and Richard took seven tours-Europe, East USA & Canada twice, Hawaii, Alaskan cruise, Missouri (Branson) and Los Angeles. They have also enjoyed shorter trips through the WWCC Quest program. She enjoyed sewing, baking, leading Bible studies and Bible Study Fellowship, daily walks with her husband and times with the family.

Barbara is survived by her husband and his children Marjorie (Steve) Casper and Jeff (Rosanne) Daniel, Four grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters Sue (Jim) Brown and Nancy (Eugene) Hoeft and Brothers Charles(Kit)Hoeft and Franklin(Jeannine) Hoeft and thirteen nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ronald Hoeft and his wife June , nephew Tim and great niece Natalie.

Viewing and Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 on December 5, 2016 at the Mountain View Cemetery with Pastor Roland Shanks, officiating. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00, December 5, 2016 at the Central Christian Church with Roland Shanks, officiating.
