Antonio Chavez Garcia Jr.

Antonio (Tony) C. Garcia, 92, of Walla Walla passed away on April 6, 2016. He
was the son of Antonio Garcia and Maria Chavez Garcia and was born on Oct. 15, 1923, in
Mercedes, Texas. He moved to Walla Walla in 1954 and was employed by the St. Patrick Catholic Church
until his retirement. An avid gardener, Tony loved working in his yard and spending time with his
friends.
He is survived by his children, Jose Garcia of Holland, Mich., Nilda (Don) Simms and Joel (Sandra)
Garcia of Foley, Ala.; three grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; and
numerous nephews and nieces who live throughout the United States. He was preceded in death by his
wife, Getrudes Garcia of Holland, Mich. He was loved and will be greatly missed by family
and his many friends.
A rosary will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at 6 p.m. at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. The
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, April 15, 2016, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church
with Father Kyle Ratuiste, celebrant. Burial follows the Mass at Mountain View Cemetery.
