Annie Ruth Roberson

April 26, 1929 — November 19, 2022

Walla Walla

Annie Ruth Roberson was born in Valdosta, GA, to Fred and Grotis Johnson on April 26, 1929. It was a time when the country was at the beginning of the Great Depression.

After growing up in Valdosta, she relocated to New Jersey, where she met Field Roberson. Ruth was the mother of five wonderful children. She and her family moved to La Grande, OR in 1956. In 1970, they moved to Walla Walla, where she spent the remainder of her years.

Being a mother was Ruth’s most important occupation. She was fully dedicated to her children. She was content to be the central figure in their lives. They loved having her drive them to school and take them to swimming lessons. After her children grew older, she took on a job as a dietary worker at the Oddfellows Nursing Home. She loved ministering to the residents, and they were comforted by her compassionate care. She finally retired after 25 wonderful years.

She loved to read. The Bible was her favorite book. Ruth also enjoyed reading love stories. She liked decorating the house and got many ideas from home decorating magazines. Knitting and crocheting were some of her favorite hobbies. She was fun-loving, liked to play and laugh. She was a teaser even up to her dying day. Ruth left us with many lessons for living life. She taught her children and others to live life, have fun, and not to hide in a corner. She taught us to keep boundaries clear and enjoy life living in the fear of God. God was her first priority in life. Reading and teaching the Bible, singing in the choir, and personal prayer were among her cherished activities.

Ruth passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2022. She was predeceased by her daughter, Terri. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Trice, children Kenneth (Linny), Neal, Gail, Larry (Jaunita), and Lynn, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
