After a long battle with cancer, Anne Michelle Loney May passed away peacefully on the morning of September 14, surrounded by loved ones.
Annie was born in 1949 in Spirit Lake, Idaho to Clifford and Kathleen Loney. From a young age, Annie was a beautiful and resilient child with a great sense of humor. She graduated from Grandview High School and was a long-time resident of Walla Walla, where she worked in the banking industry. After retirement, she enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spoiling her four grandchildren.
Annie loved to laugh and spend time with family and friends. She was always up for a game of cards or Rummikub and could recite Steel Magnolias verbatim. Annie was a huge Elvis Presley fan, and she enjoyed making lefse as a tribute to her Norwegian roots.
Annie is survived by her husband, Arthur Duane May of Walla Walla; her brother, John Loney of Salem, OR; her sister, Karen Buntjer,of Livermore, CA; her daughter, Kristin Eagan of New York, NY; and her son, Kevin May of Las Vegas, NV. Nana May will especially be missed by her grandkids, Lauren, Blake, Madelyn, and Ethan. Annie is preceded in death by her loving parents, Clifford, Kathleen and Audrey Loney.
Annie will always be remembered as an animal lover and devoted Catholic who supported children’s education.
Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018, at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 6 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church with Sister Helen Mason, officiating. The Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 21, 2018, at 8:30 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church with Father Matthew Nicks, celebrant. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery of Yakima, Washington.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Walla Walla Humane Society or Walla Walla Catholic Schools through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
