Ann Brumbach, age 88, died July 6, 2022, in Richland, Washington. Ann was born in 1933 in Redmond, Oregon, to Rex and Wilma Brumbach. She was the third of nine children. Her early childhood was spent in eastern Oregon until the family moved to Portland during World War II, where her mother worked in the shipyards, and her father served in the Coast Guard. After the war, the family moved to Seattle and eventually settled permanently in Walla Walla. Ann graduated from St. Patrick High School and shortly thereafter entered the convent as a Dominican nun. She would remain a member of the community for approximately thirty years. After leaving the order, Ann worked as a social worker and a victims’ advocate for the Seattle Police Department. Upon her retirement, she relocated to Walla Walla to be near her family.
Ann was preceded in death by her mother and father; her brother, Pat Brumbach; and her sisters, Mary Brumbach and Beth Brumbach. She is survived by her sisters, Peggy Hansen, Dymphna Pazos, and Kathleen (Keith) Barton; her brothers, David Brumbach and Michael Brumbach. In addition, she is survived by eleven nieces and nephews and sixteen grand-nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Parish, 425 W. Alder St., on Friday, July 15, 2022, at 10:00 AM.
