Angelo Donald Landoni, born May
31, 1922, to Charles and Teresa Locati
Landoni. The fourth child of six, raised
on a small truck garden farm where the Wallula Road
meets the Pine Street Highway. He met his wife, Lois
(Roark), downtown Walla Walla at a street carnival,
at the age of 16. They were married for 72 years on
May 23, 2014.
He was drafted in November of 1942 and served in
the Field Artillery. He was there on D-day, saw action
at The Battle of the Bulge and was in Germany
on V-day. Daughter, Linda was born on June 5, 1943,
shortly before Angelo went overseas. Daughter, Luanne,
came along on March 20, 1947. After his return
home he went to school on the GI bill to become a
mechanic, while working two jobs to care for his family.
After working 40 plus years he retired, but soon
he accepted a job at Walla Walla Community College
where he taught in the automotive department for 16
years. He touched the lives of many students there.
In 1954 he became a follower of Jesus Christ and
joined Trinity Baptist Church where he served in
many capacities until his health made this impossible.
Many of you knew this kind, gentle, patient man
as “Dutch” the mechanics mechanic.
He leaves behind his loving family - wife, Lois; daughter,
Luanne Steeck; three grandchildren, Jolinda Colon,
Janna (Tyler) Drake, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Steeck;
three great-grandsons, Anthony Colon, Dominic and
Ryland Steeck; brother, Lawrence Landoni. Those
who went before him were his beloved daughter, Linda
(George) Komoriya; his parents; sister, Josephine
Tate; brothers, Anthony, Carl and Peter.
There will be no service at this time. A memorial is
planned for later. Donations may be given to Hospice,
Trinity Baptist Church, or a charity of your choice.
