Alvin Orland Knopf

Alvin O. Knopf, age 95, passed away November 17th at Park Plaza Retirement Community. Dad, a life-long resident of Walla Walla, was born February 5, 1920, to Conrad and Catherine (Schwartzkopf) Knopf. When he was five, the family moved to his grandparents’ farm on Stateline Road where he resided and farmed until 2013, when he moved to Park Plaza Retirement Community.

Dad attended grade school at Valley Chapel and high school at Walla Walla High School. In 1940, he married Lavonne Fetter. After 54 years of marriage, Mom went to be with the Lord in 1994.

In 1997, Dad married Myris Lovely of Hood River, Oregon, who survives him. He is also survived by two daughters, Darlene (Howard) Little of Meridian, Idaho, and Cora (Jock) Edwards of Walla Walla; four grandsons, Chris (Bonney) and Joe (Rachel) Little and Tavis (Stephanie) and Ian (Kayla) Edwards, who affectionately called him “Poppu;” fifteen great grandchildren; one great, great grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dad was preceded in death by Mom (Lavonne); his brothers, Ed, Ralph, Bob and Dick; and his parents.

Dad was a member of the Walla Walla Grain Growers, the local Elks Lodge #287 and attended Ingle Chapel Church.

Viewing & visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at the Herring Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA. The Funeral service will be held Monday, November 23, 2015 at 10 a.m. also at Herring Funeral Home. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery following the service. If you wish, memorial contributions may be made to the Christian Aid Center, Walla Walla Community Hospice, or a charity of your choice through the funeral home.
