Alice Jean Stanley

Alice J. Stanley, 89, of Vancouver, Wash., passed away May 11, 2014, at home.

Alice was a longtime resident of Walla Walla, living in Vancouver for the last year. She was born June 27, 1924, to Gaetano and Marie (Grano) Gallo. Alice graduated from high school and later married Robert G. Stanley. They had two children. Alice was head waitress at the Walla Walla Country Club. She loved her job and worked there for many years.

Alice was always ready to help anyone that was in need. She took care of her brothers and sisters when they were sick and was with most of them when they passed away.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her two sons, infant, Charles, and Robert; her parents; six brothers; and two sisters; and longtime friend, Tex. She was the last of nine children. She was dearly loved and will be missed by her family. Survivors include four grandchildren, Travis, Daniel, Amanda and Sarah; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Rosary will be Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 6 p.m. at Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St. The funeral Mass will be celebrated May 22, 2014, at 10 a.m at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 722 Alder St. Burial will follow in the Catholic Section of Mt. View Cemetery. A luncheon in the St. Francis Church Hall will follow the burial. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, or to Walla Walla Community Hospice through Herring Groseclose Funeral Home.
