Aletha Fern Depping passed on June 26, 2014 at the Odd Fellow Home in Walla Walla. She was born Sept 26, 1920, in Farnam, Nebraska to Homer and Carrie Propeck.
The Propeck family moved to Milton Freewater, Oregon in 1930. She graduated from McLoughlin High School in Milton Freewater in 1937.
Aletha met and married the love of her life, Carl Depping on September 8, 1945. She spent an active life on the farm located on Depping Road supporting all of Carl and her children’s endeavors. She was especially proud of her participation in the Berney School PTA, Walla Walla County Cow Belles, and Blue Mountain Riders mounted drill team. She truly enjoyed her hours on the back of her favorite horses over the years. Both Carl and Aletha were active participants Washington State Milking Shorthorn Association and the Blue Mountain Humane Society.
Aletha is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Carl Depping, her parents, sister, Gloe Kelly and brothers, Dean, Wayne, Dale, and Ralph Propeck.
She is survived by her daughter Deanna Milne and her husband Phil, of Walla Walla and her son, C. Duane Depping and his wife Nancy Boettcher of Burbank, Washington. She leaves behind her two granddaughters and their families, Dara Depping Straus, her husband Shaun, and her two children Luke and Isabel of Washougal, Washington, and Danelle Depping Piippo and her husband Tracy and her three children, Noland, Madison and Olivia of Bellevue, Washington. In addition, she is survived by one sister, LaVon Curl and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff the Washington Odd Fellows Home for their tender and thoughtful care during Mothers stay.
Viewing & visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM. There will be a private family graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery. The Memorial Funeral service will be at the First Christian Church in Milton Freewater at 11:30 AM which is the church where her brother, Dean, was the pastor for many years. A lunch will follow the memorial service. Memorials may be made to Blue Mountain Humane Society, Walla Walla County Cattlemen’s Association, or the Washington Odd Fellows Home through the funeral home.
