Listen to Obituary

Alan Nguyen Inglis died on May 12, 2026, at age 58, from anaplastic thyroid cancer in Walla Walla, Washington, surrounded by his immediate family and siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Gina; daughters, Angel (26), Ashley (22), and Alexis (12); siblings, Evan, Kristin, and Jeanie; his mother, Marion; his mother-in-law, Gelda; and several extended family members throughout the United States and the Philippines. He was preceded in death by his father, Dick, and his beloved brother, Andy.

Born in Da Nang, Vietnam, in 1967, Alan was adopted at age six and came to the United States with his younger brother, Andy, to join their new family. Early in life, Alan displayed great athletic ability as a quarterback. As a kid, he enjoyed playing Dungeons & Dragons, collecting stamps and baseball cards, and playing football with his brothers and friends every Thanksgiving weekend.

After graduating from Walla Walla High School, Alan earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Eastern Washington University. He then joined the U.S. Navy and, as an ensign, lived and worked all over the world during his 20 years of faithful service. He married Gina while stationed in Hawaii on February 13, 1999. After retiring from the Navy in Fallon, Nevada, he began a second career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Walla Walla as a contract specialist. He retired after 14 years of service in the fall of 2025.

Alan was a fun-loving, devoted husband and father. With his beautiful wife, Gina, he raised three wonderful daughters. Alan made the people around him feel good with his positive & outgoing cheerfulness, jokes, and big smile. He was friendly and generous, especially at backyard barbecues where he liked to grill while taking time to beat all comers at cornhole. He was also an avid and knowledgeable sports fan who closely followed the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners, took annual trips to Reno to play poker and watch the March Madness Finals, cared for his prized Porsche Panamera, and loved taking cruises with his wife.

Alan will be remembered with military honors at a ceremony on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at Mountain View Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at the Courtyard by Marriott in Walla Walla.

Remembrances may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the American Cancer Society through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W Alder St, Walla Walla, WA 99362. Friends and family are invited to sign the online guestbook at www.herringgroseclose.com.
