Arthur A. Cadieux

Arthur A. Cadieux, 82, passed away at home on August 30, 2023, after a short but hard battle against cancer.

Art was born on August 11, 1941, in Norwich, CT, to Albert M. and Ruth E. Westgate Cadieux. He was their only child. When he was 18 years old, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a Military Policeman. He served tours in Korea and Vietnam and retired after 22 ½ years of service.

In 1960, he met Marie Jean Scott. They were married a few months later, on February 18, 1961, in Rapid City, SD. They had three children together and moved all over the country and overseas. After his retirement, the family moved to Spokane, WA, where he went to college and received his degree as a Diesel Mechanic. Marie also received her degree as a Medical Records Technologist. In 1983, Art, Marie, and their youngest daughter moved to Walla Walla, where he was a diesel mechanic for a local farmer. He also worked at Bowlaway Lanes and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a diesel mechanic for the fish barges and a juvenile fish truck driver, retiring in 2003.

In 1985, Marie passed away from metastatic cancer. For the next 22 years, he remained a widower. He met Melissa Christine Craik, and they were married on January 27, 2007, and they spent 16 ½ years happy together.

Art is survived by his wife, Melissa Cadieux, at home; son, Ken Cadieux (Colleen); daughter, Jackie Duvall (Wade); sister, Doris Bunton; brother-in-law, Don Mathews; grandson, Robert Wing; great-grandson, Jasper Wing; nephew, Scott Mathews; also, his stepchildren and stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marie Cadieux; daughter, Gigi Lyons; sister, Peggy Mathews; and niece, Michelle Mathews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 30, 2023, at 4:00 PM at the home of Gene and Adrianna Mahurin at 28 Lilac Court, Walla Walla, WA  (Go West on Heritage Rd until it turns into the Old Hwy 12. It is the large white farmhouse on the left.) A private family inurnment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St., Walla Walla, WA 99362 (Go West on Heritage Rd until it turns into the Old Hwy 12. It is the large white farmhouse on the left.)
