Robert Lee Hartwell Jr.
(May 4, 1951 - January 30, 2013)

Long time area resident, Robert Lee Hartwell Jr., died at Park Manor Rehab on Jan 30, 2013.

He was born in Walla Walla to Robert Lee and Barbara Jean Hartwell on May 4, 1951. He attended Berney Grade School, Pioneer Jr. High, and WA Hi. He joined the Air Force; went to Lackland AFB in Texas for basic training; came home and married his longtime girlfriend Nancy Rose. He and Nancy were married for 23 years then divorced but remained friends for the rest of his life. They had two children Robert and Veronica. They moved back to Walla Walla when he left the Air Force after 11 years.

He then worked as a correction officer at the Washington State Penitentiary for 11 years. He loved to fish and to be on the river with his boat, loved to play pool and to golf with his sons, Cameron and Christopher from a second marriage.

He is survived by his son, Robert / Stephanie of Medical Lake, WA; daughter, Veronica / Robert Dinwiddie of Walla Walla, WA; son, Christopher of Prescott; 3 step children, Samantha, Felicia and Brandon Latendresse; 2 sisters, Linda / Tom Fisher of Walla Walla, Susie Hulse of Ephrata, WA; 1 brother, Walter / Vicky Hartwell of Walla Walla. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Lee, Lissandra, Delilah, Sophia, Tatiana Hartwell of Medical Lake, WA and Briawna Dinwiddie of Walla Walla; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as his 2 good friends; Connie and Paul Dobbins. He was preceded in death by his parents; Bob and Barbara Hartwell; granddaughter, Elizabeth Hartwell; son, Cameron Hartwell; grandparents, Sylvia and Kenneth Hobson, Charles Shoemaker, and numerous Aunts and Uncles.

He will forever be in our hearts, always in our mind and forever in our thoughts. May God lead you to the peace that you deserve. We will love you forever and always.

A family memorial will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Regional Cancer Center through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
